Citrus Perfumes
The citrus aromas, belonging to the citrus family, are distinguished by a luminous freshness that explores the nuances of the peel, pulp and green parts of the fruit. The essential oils of many citrus fruits are obtained by expression of the peel, often by cold pressing, and contribute to the lively character of the opening. Bergamot introduces a complex, bitter and slightly floral freshness; lemon and lime bring more sour and pungent accents. Sweet orange and mandarin offer round and juicy tones, while grapefruit expresses a characteristic bitterness, sometimes accompanied by green nuances. Cedar, understood as a citrus fruit, can evoke a thick, dry and intensely scented peel. Many components of citrus oils are volatile and give particular emphasis to the initial notes. As they gradually fade, the other facets of the composition emerge. Aromatic, floral, woody or musky notes can support its structure and accompany its evolution, while the citrus character introduces brightness and contrast into the overall accord.
